Bass and Beavers on Mother's Day at Mountain Island Lake

...the boys today caught 45 bass, a combination of largemouth and spotted, mostly on white jigs, swimbaits, and spinnerbaits.

56F air and 60F water and fog in the morn opened up to sunshine and 80F air temps.  Water still a bit chilly for this time of year.

It has been said: "Never trust a beaver."  This is one of 3 beavers we saw today, 2 of which slapped their tails at us.  A slapping beaver tail is usually bad luck for fisherman, but these beavers did not have their beaver mojo tuned in to the right frequency today.  Fish were caught right after the slaps.  The beavers dove underwater, and gosh, can they hold their breath.
