Good luck Cooper

Sunrise...heading up the Catawba River
Cooper the River Cooter in take out box

..enjoying some sun...

into the water
After a year or more in captivity, Cooper the River Cooter was released today.  It was a nice, sunny 82F day for the little fella.  The fishing was slow, with the rains from Hurricane Harvey making the water murky; only a few blue gills were biting.  While in the water, he swam back over to the boat, as if he wanted to climb back aboard.  Hopefully Cooper will find a nice log in a quiet cove, to enjoy the sun, and have a peaceful life.

July Fishing at Mountain Island Lake

Lake sunrise

Catawba sunrise

Long ear caught on a grub...
Not many fireworks on this trip to MIL.  Great morning, with air about 75F and water around 80F.  Sheet of glass Catawba, no current.   But alas, the fish were not biting.  A few sunnies and small bass were caught, all released, but the stripers and bigger bass were not to be found.  Still, a great day to be out on the water.
