Back to the Freshwater of Mountain Island Lake

Spotted Bass ~ Gear Plug - Oboz Firebrand  (great hiking/oudoor shoes)

Trees of November, grasping onto the last green leaves warmed by the autumn sun, while still showing their leafless, bare, cold branches of winter, yet to come.

The term Sunfish did not fit the day, as it was chilly, cloudy, and drizzly.  And yes, that is a Mepps spinner!

Still life ~ boat gear
The air was low 50s, the water a warmer 64F.  17 bass were caught, all spots and one largemouth, and they felt warm to the touch in the chilly November air.  We fished from 9am to 1pm, drifting down the Catawba River from the Cowans Ford Dam down past Duck Cove, on a glorious Sunday.
Nice to be out on the water.

From Hilton Head Island, SC to Columbia, SC to Charlotte, NC

Leaving Broad Creek Marina.  Note missing tail light.
Bravo 5 changed to Charlie 7
I-95 closed North of I-26 for 70 miles.
The flood plain along I-77 a few miles from the Congaree River in Columbia, SC...water is everywhere.

Storytime ~
Sometime after midnight, on a dark end empty Route 278, a big ball of loose barbed wire appeared in front of the truck.  The truck just missed it but the swerving trailer's left tire and tail light area got struck a little.  A few days later, the missing tail light was noticed.

The flood waters of the Congaree River around Columbia, SC were incredible.  Its hard to imagine that much water in places where you'd never expect to see water.

Bald Eagle at Hat Island

Storytime:
We did try salmon fishing on this day, over closer to Mukilteo.  There was a Fishing Derby in progress, with a lot of boats fishing everywhere.  The current was strong, the water temp was about 54F and 450 feet deep!  We had no luck, but it was fun.

This place called Puget Sound is beautiful any which direction you look.  Still have a lot to learn about salmon fishing, but heck, just soak in the scenery.  Great islands, small towns, pubs, beer, coffee, food, people.
