Nearly Skunked at Mountain Island Lake

Another MIL Cove

The old Muskrat Contruction Marina

Old docks from the past...
Air 36F in the morning, water temp approx 50F.  The river had plenty of current, and only one fish taken up close to dam.  The wind picked up, so we went down to lower end of the lake.  One more fish was caught there, but that was it.  2 fish total, both released.  The 15mph wind did not help much, but it was nice to be out in the sun and on the water.

Red Tailed Hawk

At first we thought this was a Red Shouldered Hawk, but upon closer look (and we were very close), it is a young Red Tailed Hawk.  This photo was taken out of car window, and the hawk was about 5 feet away.  His tail is not red yet.

Water Snake on Turkey Day

While the boys were fishing at the local pond for bass, this water snake was discovered, calmly catching some rays on this cool November Thanksgiving Day.  We figured it would be a bit sluggish, but when a hand reached to snatch it, it bolted away.  Lucky for the hand maybe, cause these guys like to bite.

Too Cold for Fishin? at Mountain Island Lake

The trees are nearly naked as winter approaches...

The guys caught several spotted bass...

Air temp 28F at 8am, water temp 53F.  There was ice on the boat ramp.  The boat motor started up slowly and was telling us it wanted to go back to bed, but we woke it up.  It was a clear and sunny day, with air going up to 53F by noon.  Fish were a bit stubborn today, with about 16 or 17 fish caught total..large and spotted bass.

Autumn Fishing at Mountain Island Lake

Sunrises, no matter how much a cliche, are still gear, especially when you experience them.

Still Life with Largemouth

Spotted Bass

Double Trouble Largemouth.  Mine's bigger Sean!

The big ones are hiding already, small ones gettin there last fill before cold sets in..

Turtles are glorious creatures.  They sit peacefully on a log and bask in the sun as the world turns

At 6:45am water temp was 72F, air temp 61F.  Air was crisp, sky clear, and you could tell that the fishing was in flux.  In any case, a lovely day to be on the water working at our weekend office.
